Current and recent work

With The Funding Centre, Matt has worked on complex business cases for major national projects in Wales including the creation of the National Contemporary Art Gallery Wales, and the redevelopment of the National Slate Museum, Llanberis. These projects have involved authoring the Strategic Outline Case, Outline Business Case and Full Business Case documents as part of the Green Book / Better Business Cases framework.

Also with The Funding Centre, Matt co-authored the business plans for the redevelopment of the Alexandra Theatre, Bognor Regis and for The Nest (part of Chichester Festival Theatre). He also worked on the Strategic Outline Case and Outline Business Case for a shared collections storage partnership project led by Cyngor Gwynedd.

Matt wrote the Business Justification Case for National Museum Cardiff in 2024 and on one for St Fagans National Museum of History in 2025. He has written the business plan and marketing strategy for Plas Gunter Mansion, Abergavenny in support of their National Heritage Lottery Fund application, and is writing a new business plan for Theatr Bara Caws ahead of their planned relocation.

In 2024, Matt and colleagues from The Funding Centre became RoSS Consultants for The National Lottery Heritage Fund Register of Support Services (RoSS) Framework and Sport Wales Sector Resilience Consultants.

Matt has provided ongoing strategic marketing support to Cause4 and has project-managed new websites the Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy and Heritage Compass programmes. He also worked on the Digital Heritage Hub with University of Leeds as part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Digital Skills for Heritage initiative.

Matt worked as Interim Director of Audiences for Birmingham Rep in 2021 and wrote a 3-year marketing strategy for Theatre Hullabaloo’s annual summer festival. He has also written marketing audits for MAST Mayflower Studios, Norwich Theatre and Theatr Bara Caws.
