Since 2016, Matt has been been Director of Marketing and Sales at Welsh National Opera.
In March 2021, Matt returns to working as a marketing & communications freelancer and consultant, as he did for 10 years prior to joining WNO.
Between 2006-16 Matt worked as a freelancer and consultant with a wide range of clients, from small companies to flagship organisations, county-wide consortia and artform development agencies, delivering both strategic and tactical support. He was also Course Director for UK Theatre’s ‘Druidstone’ Essentials of Marketing residential course in 2010 and 2011.
Matt started his career as Marketing Manager with Arts Marketing Hampshire (1998-2000). He then gained senior management experience as Head of Marketing | Marketing Director at HST Theatres (Wycombe Swan & Wyvern Theatre), and as Head of Marketing at Bristol Old Vic before becoming self-employed in late 2006.
Matt holds a First Class Honours degree in Arts Management and Chartered Marketer status with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Matt was a Trustee of Audiences South West (2006-09) and Sinfonia Cymru (2014-19).
