Matt Carwardine-Palmer is a marketing and business consultant with more than 25 years’ experience working in the arts, heritage, and cultural sectors.

Matt specialises in writing business plans and business cases for organisations. Matt also writes marketing & communications strategies and undertakes marketing audits for organisations and has experience of project-managing website redevelopments. 

Working with The Funding Centre, Matt has expertise in HM Treasury ‘Better Business Cases’ / Green Book frameworks to write Business Justification Case (BJC), Strategic Outline Case (SOC), Outline Business Case (OBC) and Full Business Case (FBC) planning documents to support complex capital projects.

Alongside colleagues from The Funding Centre, Matt is a RoSS Consultant for the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

From 2016-21, Matt was Director of Marketing & Sales at Welsh National Opera (WNO). Prior to joining WNO, he spent 10 years as a marketing & communications freelancer and consultant, delivering both strategic and tactical support to arts and cultural organisations across the UK. This followed roles as Head of Marketing at Bristol Old Vic, Marketing Director at Wycombe Swan | HST Theatres, and Marketing Manager at Arts Marketing Hampshire.

Matt holds a First Class Honours degree in Arts Management and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (Chartered Marketer). His is also an accredited Practitioner for Better Business Cases with APMG International. Matt is part of the CIM Wales Committee and is based in Penarth.
