Brolio / The Pitch 2014

It’s not too late to book a free place at the CIM annual ‘Brolio / The Pitch’ evening event, taking place at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay on 18 February 2014.

During the afternoon, 12 teams of three students each, from higher education and further education colleges throughout Wales, compete in the nearby Pierhead Building. These are narrowed down by the judges to three finalists teams who present in the evening. This event is a great opportunity for students to work on a ‘real world’ project and for businesses in Wales to see the high quality of marketing students in Wales.

The brief this year is supplied by Cynnal Cymru – Sustain Wales. The Welsh Government are sponsoring the event as part of the Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy (YES) Action plan 2010-15, which encourages youth entrepreneurship and business to engage with education. The National Assembly buildings provide an excellent platform to host this prestigious competition, increasing the profile of the competition with the business audience and the young participants.

Workplace bullying

Workplace Bullying: What it is and what you can do about it

The issue of bullying in the arts is, quite rightly, being highlighted at the moment. I’m keen to recommend some sessions happening in London and Leeds in June with Bev Morton and Anne-Marie Quigg addressing this issue.

This session is for anyone who has been affected by, or has an interest in, the issue of workplace bullying working in any sector; either from an individual or organisational perspective.

The 3-hour session will take place in both London in on Weds 12th June at Birkbeck College, University of London and in Leeds on Mon 10th June at Leeds School of Music. You can choose to attend either a morning or afternoon session.

A pilot programme developed and delivered through collaboration between Bev Morton, The Art of Possibility and Anne-Marie Quigg, Jackson Quigg Associates. Anne-Marie has been researching the issue of workplace bullying since 2001. Her PhD research findings are published in her book Bullying in the arts.
